MEDAN (JP): A damaged runway forced management to close Polonia Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, to both domestic and international flights for two hours Sunday.
The airport administrator said seven outgoing and fiveincoming flights were delayed as the airport was closed from 2:20 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.
Polonia airport administrator head Yuli Sudoso said that all flights were back to normal in the evening with all delayed incoming and outgoing flights, including two to Malaysia, allowed to leave.
Frido Frinaldo, head of state-owned company PT Angkasa Pura II, which is in charge of managing Polonia airport, said that the company was forced to temporarily close the airport because the damage was serious and could endanger flights.
