Housing areas in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, has been flooded with seawater up to half a meter high due to high tides, since Saturday. Seawater floods areas around Jl. Muara Baru Raya and Nizam Zachman seaport.
Rasidin, 45, a local resident said Sunday seawater would star flooding the coastal areas at around nine in the morning.
“The water would come in the morning until the afternoon. It'll go in the evening,” he said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.
Separately, Hermanto, Pasar Ikan sluice gate operator, said seawater has been rising above normal since Saturday morning.
“At its peak in noon, it would reach 210 centimeter meter level. Normally it would only reach 160 to 170 centimeter,” he said, adding that the inundation would get worse if rain falls. (dre)
