A tour bus full with passengers skidded of its track and then fell from a cliff in Bandar Lampung on Satruday. The accident killed one passenger and injured dozens other.
“There are 29 people injured and they are now being attended at different hospitals,” said a police officer, Comr. Andi Aziz near the scene of the accident as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The dead passenger has been identified as Nurul, 46 years old, and a citizen of Cempedak Sub-district, Kotabumi, North Lampung. One of the passengers, Sarmiyah, said Nurul was thrown out of the bus when it plunged and rolled into a ditch.
Other passengers are mostly suffering from broken bones and bruises.
The police said the accident occurred after the bus failed to make a steep climb the road at the cliff near Sukadanaham village. The bus later rolled back and fell from the cliff.
“We are now in the middle of questioning the bus driver. There is a good chance that the bus was not in its prime condition,” Andi said. (and)
