Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - A European Union (EU) delegation will visit Indonesia in January next year for talks on airline flight safety with local aviation authorities, Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said.
"A delegation from the European Union will visit Indonesia next January to discuss their concept of airline flight safety," the minister said here on Sunday.
He said the talks would be of significance as the EU was continuing to ban Indonesian airlines from flying in its air space.
"Although they have issued this ban, we will still have a dialog and cooperate with them. That`s why they will come here and have dialog with us. We may do it in Bandung (West Java) in the form of a training or workshop," he said.
The EU ban has upset Indonesia as it suggested the EU did not respect the opinion of Indonesian aviation authorities on the safety standards of national airlines.
Jusman added it was not proper for the European Union to issue such a ban as Indonesian airlines were not operating in Europe.
