Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) has detained a Malaysian aircraft numbered BAE 146-200 for having entered the country`s territory illegally.
The plane with 81 passengers on board including crew members landed illegally at Djuanda international airport in Surabaya from Dili, Timor Leste, at 12.45 hours, TNI spokesman Commodore Iskandar Sitompul said here on Tuesday.
When asked to confirm about the incident by ANTARA, Sitompul said of the 81 passengers six including a Malaysian official had departed to Malaysia aboard a commercial plane.
"The plane and the other passengers meanwhile are still being held at the local immigration office waiting for security clearance from the Indonesian government and military," he said.
Iskandar said the security clearance was issued by BAIS (military intellgience agency) and coordination was now still being made with the foreign ministry for it.
"It is hoped it could be issued tonight so that the plane could immediately be returned to Malaysia," he said.
Iskandar said the Malaysian aircraft had violated the country`s territory and sovereignty because it carried no official permit from the Indonesian authorities.
