SURABAYA (Antara): A train derailed in East Java's capital of Surabaya Tuesday morning, but there was no immediate report of casualty and serious damage.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred minutes after the Penataran train was leaving for Gubeng station in Surabaya for nearby city of Blitar.
Tuesday's accident was the latest in a series of train accidents occurring in Java.
A "Sancaka" train en route from Surabaya to Yogyakarta last Wednesday derailed in Gogo village, about one kilometer from Nganjuk station in East Java.
Four wheels of one of the train's three business class coaches had rolled off the track, said a spokesman of the local office of the Indonesian Railway Company, Wahyu Kartono.
Previously, two "Bengawan" trains en route from Solo to Jakarta derailed respectively near Banyumas (Central Java) and Cirebon (West Java).
In a train accident on January 15, 2006 in Banyumas, four people were killed and several others injured. Meanwhile, last Monday's accident involving a "Bengawan" train in Cirebon only slightly injured one person.
