Lion Air to Add 10 Planes for East Asia Routes

Tempo Interactive, Wednesday, 06 January, 2010 | 17:41 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:PT Lion Air plans to add 10 airplanes such as Boeing 777 or Airbus A330 this year to fly to East Asian countries like Japan and China, as well as Australia.

At the end of last year, Lion Air opened the Jeddah, Saudi Arabia route. “We intend to go international," Lion Air CEO Rusdi Kirana said in Jakarta yesterday.

Rusdi is optimistic that the planes can be delivered soon. He said Lion Air has a good reputation among plane manufacturers. However he refused to mention the cost allocated to procure the airplanes. He did admit the funding came from loans. “We don’t know the exact amount yet,” he said.
