Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo said Sunday he expected new bike lanes in South Jakarta will spread across Jakarta as part of efforts to help reduce traffic and create a healthy environment.

"Five mayoralties in Jakarta should follow South Jakarta’s effort to build bike lanes,” Fauzi said at the inauguration of the bike lane at Ayodia Park, Blok M, South Jakarta, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He added that riding a bike was healthy and could help reduce pollution.

He also called on car and motorbike owners to tolerate bicyclists by not using the bike lane.
