TANGERANG: The Tangerang municipal administration plans to develop a water taxi system along the Cisadane River, in imitation of Jakarta's water taxi pilot project.
The head of the municipal trade and industry agency, Dafiar E. Hardian, said the water taxi would be a profitable enterprise.
"Water transport in Tangerang carries a lot of potential for development... The Cisadane, the upper course of which reaches Bogor in West Java, runs through both the regency and the municipality of Tangerang," he told journalists Thursday.
The Tangerang city administration is currently studying an action plan that would include escalating several bridges over the river.
